Dan is a leader in the field of transformative mediation. He is the author of the chapter on divorce mediation in the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation's ("ISCT") TRANSFORMATIVE MEDIATION SOURCEBOOK. He is a Past Chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. He served for 6 years on the Minnesota Supreme Court's ADR Ethics Board (which is responsible for upholding the ethical standards of ADR providers). He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation. He has trained mediators throughout the country for the ISCT, the U.S. Postal Service, and as an Adjunct Professor at the Hofstra University School of Law. Dan helps with divorce, parenting, property division, spousal maintenance, child support, as well as employment, family business and estate conflicts. He is especially skilled at handling highly emotional situations. He is licensed to practice law and has a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. He has also been designated by the ISCT as a "Certified Transformative Mediator". He holds the highest possible ratings from both Martindale Hubbell and Avvo.com.

Professional Background

Besides creating and directing Simon Mediation, Dan has directed the Jewish Family and Childrens Service Divorce Mediation Program, and is a founding member of the Transformative Mediators of Minnesota. He holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology and a Law Degree (J.D.), cum laude, from the University of Minnesota. Before he became a full-time mediator in 1998, Dan was a business litigation attorney and a family business consultant.

Experience

Dan has mediated over 2000 cases of all kinds since 1996. He is best know for transforming conflicts in cases of workplace complaints and lawsuits of all kinds. Dan is a leader in the field of transformative mediation, has written about it, and has conducted trainings in it nationwide for the US Postal Service, the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation, and as an Adjunct Professor at the Hofstra University School of Law.
