Description of Practice

I founded Divorce Resolutions®, Colorado Center for Divorce Mediation™, more than 25 years ago. I am privileged to work full time as a divorce and family mediator. I mediate all family disputes, from the more amicable and less complex, to high conflict divorces with marital estates including difficult support (including spousal maintenance), tax and retirement division concerns. I have a 10.0 (Superb) rating by Avvo as an attorney-trained mediator, for my experience, background and reputation among peers and clients.

Professional Background

I am a Colorado attorney, member of its Bar's Family Law and ADR Sections, a Professional Mediator as recognized by the Mediation Association of Colorado and a founding member of the Academy of Professional and Family Mediators. I became disenchanted with the adversarial system and began to transform my family law practice. After formal training in divorce and custody mediation, my practice evolved to one solely limited to divorce and family mediation.

I have mediated for more than 24 years, the last 21 of those doing so full time. I have assisted several thousand couples through many divorce and unmarried family issues. My credentials and experience in this regard have been independently reviewed by the Colorado Council of Mediators (now "theMac", or the Colorado Mediation Association) and that organization has determined I meet the Colorado “Professional Mediator” standards (formerly called the “Recommended Guidelines for Mediator Education and Training”). I am an AVVO 10.0 of 10.0 rated ("Superb") Top Mediation Attorney.

Bachelor of Arts, Colorado College (summa cum laude, 1974), Juris Doctor, University of California, Davis - Martin Luther King School of Law, (Law Review, 1978)

Divorce and family mediation is simply my life’s work and passion! My many earlier years’ experience as a divorce attorney allows me to explore with clients a great range of possible approaches and solutions that have proven to work well for others. As importantly, I am highly intuitive by nature: I often sense what is not being said — but what is very much at the heart of our work together. Over the years of my work, I have found most couples simply wish to move as expeditiously as possible to resolve their divorce, separation or parenting issues. Solution-focused, my unique mediation process and custom tools and approaches generally surpass clients' expectations in this regard.

I presently charge lawyer-style rates of $170 hour to each party ($340 hourly), but I do not require any monies in advance, but rather only require that clients pay for services as we work together. The key as a consumer of mediation services is to remember: hourly rates are less important than the total costs of completing the mediation (divorce, separation or parenting) task with a trained professional. I excel in concluding our work with clients at a reasonable "bottom line" costs. My office does accept major credit cards for your convenience as well. I am focused in my style and approach and my clients report great satisfaction with the reasonableness of total costs in mediating their divorce and parenting issues with me.
